We Manually match all RareCare requests. We consider species-specific knowledge, provider background, location, availability, budget and complexity of each request.

RareCare launched as a local network partnering with neighborhood pet shops. Shop owners are frequently asked for referrals regarding pet sitting, feeding, and specialized cleaning but lack the infrastructure to support them. Furthermore, exotic pet owners often struggle to find experienced handlers, as platforms like Rover do not support these specialized needs.
Today we are focused on building the best provider network possible. Are you a vet tech, industry specialist, hobbyist looking for additional opportunities? Are you a shop owner who regularly fields inquiries for pet sitting, cage cleaning, etc. ?
There are absolutely zero strings attached to join the RareCare network.
Our Approach:
A pet owner asks for help
A potential customer submits a request to RareCare, visits a local pet store, clinic, or partner location and asks if they know someone who can help care for their reptile, bird, aquarium, or specialty pet.
2. The partner shares RareCare
The store or clinic directs the customer to RareCare using a simple QR code or referral link.
3. The owner submits a request
The customer completes a short care request form with details like pet type, species, location, dates needed, care instructions, and any concerns.
4. RareCare reviews the request
We review the request to understand the animal’s needs, the level of care required, and whether the situation calls for basic support, experienced husbandry help, aquarium maintenance, or veterinary referral.
5. We match with the right provider
Rare Care identifies providers in our network whose experience, availability, location, and comfort level align with the request.
6. Provider confirms availability
The provider reviews the request and confirms whether they are available and comfortable with the care needed.
7. Owner and provider connect
Once there is a good fit, we connect the owner with the provider to finalize details, expectations, pricing, and scheduling.
8. Care is completed
The provider performs the agreed-upon care, such as feeding, check-ins, habitat monitoring, aquarium support, or travel care.
9. Feedback is collected
After the service, Rare Care collects feedback to help maintain quality, improve future matches, and strengthen trust across the network.
10. Partner referral is tracked
If the request came through a store or clinic partner, the referral is tracked so the partner can be credited appropriately.
